A Great Music City
Dublin is a great music city. Here are just two performance moments – musical contrasts available in Dublin:
Top: Badge, specialists in classic British and American rock, performing in JJ Smyths, Aungier Street. The band can make a great job of the works of Clapton, Winwood, Green, to name just three.
Below: Alan Buribayev, Principal Conductor of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, in full flight in the National Concert Hall. Alan Buribayev was born in 1979 and is a Kazakh conductor, the son of a cellist/conductor father and a pianist mother. He studied violin and conducting at the Kazakh National Conservatory. He was later a conducting student of Uros Lajovic in Vienna. Buribayev won prizes in the Lovro von Matacic Conducting Competition in Zagreb and in the Antonio Pedrotti Competition in 2001.

In both these venues, you can experience a great music city – at a reasonable cost. Gigs in JJ Smyths generally cost €10. In the National Concert Hall, prices for the National Symphony Orchestra’s Friday night concerts start at €12. So…Dublin…is a great music city!
